For the first time since its creation in 1990, NAIOP Washington State’s Annual Community Enhancement project will focus on on a high school campus, New Start in Burien.

Every student who attends New Start High School is beating the odds – pursuing an education when their life circumstances have made even attending school a significant challenge. New Start teachers and staff work hard to connect kids to a deep, rich support network and to their community to improve their long-term success.

The Salmon Creek Campus was decommissioned as an elementary school in 2005; when it reopened to house the high school, there was no opportunity to remodel. The students arrive at and work in a dilapidated school built for small children, with cracked and broken walkways, Plexiglas windows, chipped paint, deteriorating wood fascia, and a confusing entryway. These are just a few of the challenges NAIOP hopes to address.

NAIOP has a unique opportunity to partner with the school to have a positive impact in the lives of high school students in need. Updating New Start High School and the Salmon Creek Campus will give students pride in their school and create a safer, more comfortable and welcoming learning environment.

Participate in Community Enhancement 2016

NAIOP's Community Enhancement projects showcase our spirit of philanthropy and commitment to our community, drawing more than 350 NAIOP member volunteers from more than 100 companies each year. In 2015, more than 400 volunteers helped update and rebuild the grounds at YMCA's Camp Terry.

We urge you to contribute and get involved. A financial donation now and your efforts in September will make a difference in the lives of all the young people that attend this unique facility. In addition, your company will benefit from the recognition provided by NAIOP to its sponsors, as well as, interaction with the member firms and community partners that participate in our projects.
