2020 Community Enhancement Food Drive

The NAIOP Washington State Community Enhancement Committee has always been about supporting our neighbors. Due to COVID-19 regulations we are unable to move forward with an in-person volunteer event and look forward to supporting the Auburn Valley YMCA project in 2021. However, we do not want COVID-19 to stop us from giving back to our community.  This year, we will be hosting a food drive to support organizations throughout the region that successfully distribute food to families in need.

We have partnered with Farmer Frog, Byrd Barr Place, Mary’s Place to set up three drop off locations throughout the region to collect food.

How you can participate:

  • Volunteer to collect food at one of our three drop off locations
  • Collect food from your network and drop it off at one of our three locations
  • Give online: all proceeds will be distributed equally between the organizations.
Donate today!

We look forward to continuing the work already started with the Auburn Valley YMCA in 2021. https://www.naiopwa.org/member-companies

The Y is Seattle’s founding nonprofit organization, offering health, hope, and opportunity to:

  • Parents find a safe, nurturing environment for their children to stay active, be engaged, and learn positive values. Children and teens play and develop self-confidence while feeling accepted and suppo rted.
  • Former foster kids and homeless young people receive assistance with housing, employment, life skills, and other resources to learn and work.
  • Families in crisis due to mental health, child abuse, neglect, or substance abuse receive support and resources from licensed counselors. People from all backgrounds and walks of life come together to volunteer and help strengthen their community.
  • Adults connect with friends, pursue interests, and learn how to live healthier.

Making a lasting impact on the community since 1990

Each year, as a demonstration of our commitment to philanthropy and our community, NAIOPWA partners with a deserving non-profit or government organization in the Pacific Northwest for a day of community service that provides needed upgrades and maintenance to the selected project site. Our Community Enhancement Committee plans the implementation of dozens of individual projects at the selected site, solicits financial support and material resources, and coordinates hundreds of volunteers to make the projects happen. Over three decades, NAIOPWA has upgraded and remodeled schools, playgrounds, child-care and special needs centers, including outdoor projects that serve both the people served and our environment through restoration efforts, utilizing the unique talents and resources of the NAIOP community.

Volunteers of all ages are welcomed and encouraged to participate. Projects at all skill levels will be ready for anyone willing to work!

When you sponsor Community Enhancement, you are making a difference in our community and paving the way for future generations to learn, grow and thrive in the Pacific Northwest. Sponsor Community Enhancement 2020 today!

  Community Enhancement Highlights:

  • In 2019, more than 400 volunteers participated. Participants come from more than 100 companies, and participation has grown steadily in the past five years.
  • Each year the site is selected by considering many criteria, but always to ensure that there are plenty of projects for volunteers of all skill and experience levels to accommodate co-workers, friends, and family members of all ages. Depending on interest and availability, childcare provided by the YMCA with specific educational activities for the youngest volunteers may be offered.
  • Community Enhancement is part of the NAIOP Washington State Foundation, which was formed in 2003 to support NAIOP’s vast community initiatives.
