October: Al Kinisky 

Al Kinisky

With over 15 years’ of corporate real estate experience, Al Kinisky works as the Global Real Estate Strategist and Business Partner to the Cloud Business Group of SAP. In addition, Al acts as an intermediary between SAP’s real estate brokerage firm and their Real Estate and Facilities team to develop long-term strategies for each metro in which they are active. Embedded in all things SAP real estate, Al directs the global real estate portfolio, space planning, construction, international growth demands, and a plethora of other responsibilities too long to list. His background is as diverse as it is extensive—from building $200k SF of office space and relocating a 600-employee HQ to being the on-air commentator for the Everett Silvertips. Al has remained far ahead of trends when it comes to creative office spaces and flexible remote work. In addition to all of this, Al sits on the Board of Directors for the Bellevue Downtown Association, where we works to make Concur’s hometown ever more livable, clean, safe, and business friendly. Please join us for an interesting conversation with somebody at the forefront of the workplace as he shares his thoughts on how our workplaces are changing today and in the future.

May: Joe Polito

Joe Polito headshot - white middle-aged man with dark hair and beard smiles at the cameraJoe Polito is Managing Director of Development for Touchstone, where he identifies development and investment opportunities and manages multiple aspects of the firm’s projects, including feasibility, acquisition, concepting and design, capitalization, financing, leasing, marketing, asset management, and dispositions. Joe also works directly with the executive management team in strategic decision-making.

A licensed attorney in the state of Washington, Joe began his career as a commercial real estate broker in suburban Detroit. Locally, Joe is heavily involved in the real estate community and volunteers with many organizations.

February: Clark Lindsay

           
Clark Lindsay

Clark is a founding principal of Pacific Program Management, established in 2009. He started his career in the field building houses and site surveying while in civil engineering school at CU Boulder. From there, he worked as a project engineer and manager in the construction industry, and then worked his way up to managing $100M+ developments as an owner representative for a large real estate company. Clark has focused his career primarily on the new campus and high rise developments in the healthcare and corporate commercial markets, and interior build-outs and renovations in the life-science and commercial tenant projects. Additional experience includes work in hospitality, retail, critical environments/data centers, and campus infrastructure projects. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing with his kids and friends, fishing, bird hunting, running, playing golf, and traveling.

November: Tony Toppenberg, Senior Director of Construction Management with Hudson Pacific Properties..

Tony brings 17 years of experience in engineering, construction, and development to his current role with Hudson Pacific. Prior to joining Hudson Pacific, Tony worked with Intel Corporation, and most recently spent 16 years with Turner Construction. Tony’s work has undoubtedly changed the skyline of Seattle and the region, and he continues to be very active in shaping the future of the built environment here. In addition, Tony is an active member of NAIOPWA, volunteering for many leadership and support roles, including recently serving as board president.

September: Marc Gearhart, Vice President of Real Estate Development, Ryan Companies

Marc brings 17 years of experience to his role and an extensive background across all phases of the development life cycle, including construction. As Vice President of Real Estate Development in Ryan’s Northwest Region, Marc is responsible for sourcing and executing development deals in the Puget Sound market. Specifically, he manages site selection, due diligence, financing, entitlement, lease/sale negotiation and asset management. A strategic, goal-oriented leader, Marc has an impressive history of positively impacting the development process, project teams, and the spaces in which we live, work and play every day.

There are many facets in commercial real estate and many opportunities for personal and professional development, interact with people at all levels and positions within the industry, and involvement in a variety of projects.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE:
It is an exciting and multi-faceted business with opportunities, challenges and rewards. I really enjoy working with they many people throughout the process and creating great places.

April: Dean Allen, CEO and Chairman of McKinstry Co.

At McKinstry, Dean is currently leading several large projects in CLT and modular construction, two of the hottest innovation spaces in CRE. Dean has more than 30 years experience in the design, construction and real estate industries in the Pacific Northwest. Under his leadership, McKinstry has grown from a mechanical contractor into a comprehensive design, build, operate, and maintain enterprise with more than $500 million per year in revenues and nearly 2,000 employees. 

In addition to his work at McKinstry, Dean has served the community in a variety of industry and philanthropic roles. Outside the realm of facility systems, his passions revolve around global health and education, driven by the idea that all children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential. Dean currently serves on the boards of PATH, Seattle Children’s Hospital, the Washington Roundtable and Washington STEM.

Dean serves as CEO and Chairman for McKinstry Co., LLC and McKinstry Essention, LLC.

A-P Hurd is the president of SkipStone, a consulting firm that provides services to private and public clients. She is the former president of Touchstone, a real estate development company that built nearly 3M SF of office, retail, hotel and residential space between 2007 and 2017 and won the national Developer of the Year award in 2016. A-P is also a faculty member and Runstad Fellow in the College of Built Environments at the University of Washington, where she teaches a course on land economics and public policy.  She is on the Executive Committee of the Seattle Chamber Board and co-chairs the Chamber’s Policy Leadership Group. She is also on the boards of the Pacific Real Estate Institute and of CityBldr, a tech company that uses big data to unlock opportunities for housing development. She was the 2014 president of NAIOP Washington, has worked on numerous urban policy initiatives at the state and local level and has received several awards for her work including the Better Bricks Advocate award and the Puget Sound Business Journal's "40 under 40" award and the "Biznow Power 60" award. In 2012, A-P published The Carbon Efficient City with the University of Washington Press. 

September: Greg Hanon and Natalie Quick 

Join fellow Developing Leaders for a unique evening of networking with two of our industry’s leading business professionals, Greg Hanon and Natalie Quick. In tandem with our Government Affairs committee, Greg and Natalie provide the front line in NAIOPWA's robust efforts focused on establishing and maintaining a positive business environment for commercial real estate.

As our state lobbyist, Greg is always aware of upcoming legislation and state races, and how they will affect CRE. Natalie works locally with the Seattle City Council and more broadly in the Puget Sound region to connect business leaders, elected and public officials, and the community.

June: Chris Rossman, Vice President of Development at The Wolff Company

Chris is responsible for execution of the firm’s investment strategy in the Pacific Northwest. Responsibilities include site selection, acquisition, entitlements, design and development of multifamily and senior housing assets in excess of $500 million of annual investment. With more than 13 years of experience in the multi-family industry, Chris has been involved in the development of more than $1.5 billion of multi-family and senior housing assets. He received his bachelors and MBA from the University of Washington, where he also completed the Commercial Real Estate Certificate Program. He is an active member of ULI, NAIOP and NMHC, and is a past board member of the Seattle Architecture Foundation.

April: Fred Grimm, CEO and Founder of Triad Development

During its 34-year history, Triad has developed a wide array of award winning developments. Grimm also founded Triad Capital Partners and has been an active angel investor in many startup companies. He co-founded Triad Venture Foundry, a Seattle-based company creating innovative new product development. He and his wife also founded Triad Film Works, and served as an Executive Producer of Mother’s Day, a major motion picture directed by Garry Marshall and starring Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis.
