Congratulations 2022 NAIOPWA Night of the Stars Winners!

Congratulations 2022 NAIOPWA Night of the Stars Winners!

John Pietromonaco inducted into NAIOPWA Hall of Fame

Presented on Friday night at the NAIOPWA 2022 Night of the Stars Gala, the awards honored an impressive slate of commercial real estate projects that serve the community with innovations in retail, office, industrial and multi-family development.

The projects, and the developers who engaged them, demonstrate the flexibility and ingenuity of the CRE community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, NAIOPWA’s 2022 Night of the Stars finalists highlight the growth in transit-oriented development (TOD), multi-family housing from high-rise urban to supportive housing, and various programs that encourage development in underutilized regions such as Opportunity Zone funding.

Mary's Place Keeps Children Fed, Families from Being Unhoused During COVID Crisis

Mary's Place believes that no one's child should sleep outside. They provide safe, inclusive shelter and services that support women, children and families on their journey out of homelessness. They keep families together and inside and, together with our community, provide housing and employment resources, safety, stability, and hope. Mary's Place is the leading provider of shelter and services for families in King County; they operate six emergency family shelters with over 500 beds for moms, dads, and kids; and a drop-in women's day center in downtown Seattle that welcomes in more than 100 women each day.

COVID has changed us all, and Mary's Place has had to adjust their programs and services to ensure that all of their guests and staff stay healthy. Supplies have dwindled, and their volunteer and in-kind donation programs are being re-imagined to become virtual. They are so grateful to their community who have come alongside them during this pandemic to provide protective equipment like masks and facial coverings, cleaning and medical supplies, food, and love!

University District in Transition [September Breakfast Recap]

New Programming Committee Chair Chris Beza introduced the September panel about the quickly transforming University District. The new Link light rail station, neighborhood upzone, and UW Master Plan are key factors influencing the area, each of which is a substantial change. Together, they add up to some remarkable changes that will continue to shape the ever-changing University District. It was an insightful morning and the only thing that could have made it better would have been a cameo of one or two of the iconic musicians that have sung about The Ave over the years (maybe an idea for next year, programs committee?!).

Solving Our Region's Homelessness Problem [May 2017 Breakfast Recap]

This was a tough one! We have participated in and to a large extent driven the tremendous real estate expansion in Seattle and that’s a good thing! However, there can be unintended consequences and in our May Breakfast we explored one of those consequences: Homelessness. The Breakfast was sponsored by Lake Union Partners, Runberg Architecture Group, and Rushing. We sincerely thank them for their continued support.

President Kristin Jensen related information about the annual NAIOP Washington State PAC fundraiser on June 28. She also welcomed our new members. We heard about the Summer Social on August 14 at The Golf Club at Newcastle and received a presentation on the 2017 Real Estate Challenge, which was held in British Columbia.

Richard Kendall, General Manager, Allison+Partners moderated our panel which included:
