Developing Leaders Happenings - Spring 2016

Over the past few months, the Developing Leaders have been busy experiencing varying aspects of the real estate world. In March, the group went on their first property tour of the year: Holland Partner Group’s South Lake Union multifamily development, JUXT. Developed and built by Holland, JUXT is a 361-unit apartment building located at 810 Dexter Ave N scheduled to open in May. Allison Shepard, Senior Development Manager at Holland Partner Group, lead the tour of JUXT, which features a large central courtyard, laptop lounge, rooftop gathering space, and a secret room referred to as the Speakeasy, among other amenities. The tour was a great opportunity for the group to ask questions and listen to the different angles from which each sector views a new development.

Following the tour of JUXT was the first brown bag lunch of the year. Each quarter, DL invites a prominent member of the Seattle real estate market to have lunch, answer questions and share their knowledge. For this first lunch, Jon Hallgrimson, executive vice president at CBRE, was kind enough to share his time with the Developing Leaders. Jon has been CBRE’s top multifamily broker in the region since 1993 and is consistently in the top 10 nationally among CRBE’s multifamily brokers. The topics ranged from Jon’s history in the Seattle market, his advice for weathering downturns, where he would put his personal money in today’s economy and where he sees the future of multifamily development. The group had great questions, Jon had thoughtful insights and the hour concluded in a hurry.

The Developing Leaders would like to extend a big thank you to both Allison and Jon for sharing their projects, time and experience.
