SEATTLE – Announced today, category finalists for NAIOP Washington State’s 2019 Night of the Stars Awards highlight an era of tremendous growth in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest and show how a world-class commercial real estate industry supports the evolution of our region’s businesses, homes, and organizations.
This year, finalists include six candidates for Developer of the Year, demonstrating overall strength in the industry across several specialties, and new categories related to multi-family housing including Affordable Housing Development of the Year and both urban and suburban categories for Multi-Family Residential Development with more than 100 units. And, our first winner this year, Hyatt Regency Seattle as Hospitality Development of the Year, showcases the continued growth of Seattle’s downtown—from Pioneer Square to Belltown and from the waterfront to I-5, the neighborhood continues its dramatic transformation.
NAIOPWA's Night of the Stars identifies outstanding real estate developments and activities in a variety of market types and the individuals who made the projects happen. The awards aim to honor the teams who build our landscape in this annual celebration of the industry. Each finalist project was evaluated for impact on the community, market adaptability, ingenuity and local contributions. Winners will be announced at the November 8 gala event at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
The finalists’ gallery is now available online in the NAIOP WA app, where the commercial real estate community can vote for this year’s People’s Choice honor. NAIOPWA supporters, project team members, and the industry community can vote for one project per day that they feel represents best-in-class in CRE for our region. Note: Deal, Broker/Team and Developer of the Year awards are not eligible for People’s Choice voting. All other projects, regardless of category, are eligible. Cast your first vote today! Visit NAIOPWA.org/app for download links and information on setting up an account or resetting passwords.
Each year, an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the industry is selected for induction into the NAIOP Washington State Hall of Fame. This year, John Torrance will be honored for his significant, visionary contributions, including the original vision that led to what is now Seattle’s Stadium District, T-Mobile Park’s unique retractable roof, and even the new waterfront. Torrance retired in 2012 from CBRE, then CB Commercial Real Estate Group, and has remained engaged with the industry.
